7th September 2010 - Hibernia Cycling Tours Raise €3,000 for CM&RF

The M9 motorway cycle on Saturday 4th September was a huge success.  Some €3,000 was raised for the Children's Medical & Research Foundation.  Thanks to everyone for turning out for this worthy cause despite the bad weather.  Some video's and photo's below:

19th August 2010 - Hibernia Cycling Tours Announce Details of Charity Cycle on the New M9 Mototway

Hibernia Cycling Tours in association with the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation – CMRF (http://www.cmrf.org/) are delighted to announce details of 'The CMRF M9 Motorway Spin' which takes place on Saturday the 4th of September at 3pm.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to cycle the new section of the M9 motorway from Danesfort in Kilkenny to Leighlinbridge in Carlow before it opens to traffic.  So no matter what your cycling ability, why not join in this unique event for a very worthy cause.

 

The distances available to cycle on the day are:

 

1.      15km Family Spin – 1 parent €25 with children €5 extra each

2.      40km Novice Spin – beginners Spin €25

3.      90km Sportive – Kilkenny – Carlow - out and back spin €25

 

Registration will be from 1.30pm onwards in Danesfort Community Centre.  Please contact us directly for further details.

One of the toughest sportives on the calender, the Humpy 100 (or five hills challenge) in Carlow is a great day out

Hibernia Cycling Tours were out in force for the 1,400 meters of climing on the 95km route

30th May - Hibernia Cycling Tours on the Carlow 150

Great cycle today on the Carlow 150 in lovely sunshine - thanks to all in Carlow Road Club for organising. No Mt. Leinster ascent this year due to road closures.

15th May - Hibernia Cycling Tours Take on the Mount Leinster Challenge

Covering 150k with two ascents of the 500m Mt.Leinster, the first ascent taking on the 18% gradient of the Corrabut Gap and the second ascent following the route of last years Tour of Ireland, it was a tough but rewarding day in the saddle for Hibernia Cycling Tours.  Thanks to everyone at Slancey Cycling Club for making the day a success.  Garmin stats and photos on our Facebook page:

25th April 2010 - Hibernia Cycling Club Racing in Donore, Co. Louth

Donore is a small village in County Meath, Rep. of Ireland, near [Drogheda]. It is situated on the Meath/Louth border in the Boyne Valley on the route between Drogheda and the Bru na Boinne interpretive centre which is the point of access to Newgrange. The village has undergone expansion during the past number of years as a result of it's location near the recent extension of the M1 motorway. During the late 17th Century, the village was used as a defensive position by the Jacobite army of King James II against King William III during the Battle of the Boyne 1690.

The Commber Connor Memorial took place over 70km over a 5 lap circuit.  Aidan and Declan competed along with Darren from Declan's Triathlon club.  A flat course with a strong headwind made it difficult for breakes to get away.  So it came down to a sprint finish, but not before Declan went off the front with 4km to go to try and timetrial to victory - he got caught by the bunch with 1.5km to go.  No podium fisish today.
